For those of you who haven’t yet heard – I got a new phone. Now, don’t you get all excited… it’s still prepaid (aka, no 1 hour phone calls, I won’t check my email on it and let’s Pa-Lease keep our text messages to at least 10 words… none of this “k” nonsense.  Really, it’s embarrassing to use up a 3rd of a minute on that…) (and now I step off of my soap box.)

Anywho, the reason we went with prepaid phones should be obvious by this point (if you’ve been reading my blog at all) it’s cheap.  Seriously – some people spend more money in a MONTH than I do all year on my phone. No, really… just ask me how much I spent on my phone this year and be prepared for a jaw-dropper. It’s a real shocker, folks.

Of course, with the lower price, there are a few things that are sacrificed.  Yeah, the service is kind of sketchy if you are not in the city or outside a building… or in the top of a tree on your tip toes. Don’t be surprised if you see me write a text message and then hold my phone in the air until I get two confirmation beeps stating that the message did, indeed, successfully send.

Another thing that is sacrificed is the customer service. Of course, you don’t have to call in often (because the thing is built like a brick and, once it’s working, functions like a gem) (well, more like a phone than a gem.)  When you do call in, however, (wether to buy more minutes, or to transfer your number to a new phone) you can guarantee you’ll be a-waiting for at least 30 minutes. And, before you get all excited and dial in – NO they don’t have sweet jams… it plays the same song over and over and over.

AND, if you happen to be on hold and not have spoken to anyone before they close, they won’t tell you. They’ll just let you wait on hold. Forever and ever and ever and ever… and they’ll just play the same song over and over and over and over and…

How do I know this? Because I was put on hold at 9:00 p.m. and remained so until 11:30 p.m.  Yeah, they closed at 10. I’m just glad I had the sense to hang up when I did. I may have been going slightly insane.  It didn’t help that we were all in Pre-Wedding fog… that just added to the mayhem. I’m pretty sure I was starting to hear voices by the end. Don’t believe me? Ask my sisters. I was hallucinating, fo show.

All of this to say – it was well worth it, now that I have my new phone. Yeah – it’s a touch screen. Yeah – I can sync it to my computer (like an ipod).  Yeah – I can create ringtones for it.

Honestly – we’re like this.

(that last point would have been a whole lot more powerful if you could have seen me cross my fingers on the word “this”… symbolizing the close friendship I share with my new phone.)  (This silly blog limits so many aspects of my communication. Maybe I should get a video blog – except that then I wouldn’t be able to use parenthesis… and I happen to love parenthesis)  (a lot) (really)

Well, I would write more, but I have some serious bonding time to do w/ my phone. We’re creating ringtones tonight. Want me to assign one to your phone number? My new phone can do that. Really. Because it is awesome… and it was cheep… and it’s a touchscreen… and I love it.
