4 miles there, 4 miles back. That’s how far it is to town.

120 minutes. That’s how long it took us.

That’s right, for the second time in a month, Laura and I made the pilgrimage into town and back.

It’s amazing the difference a couple weeks make. Our first journey was met with strong winds, rain showers and frozen toes.  Today, we were surprised with a refreshing breeze and a lovely shower of sunshine upon our shoulders.  Before, the passersby stared at us with wonder: “are those girls crazy?” This time, though I’m sure questions about our sanity were raised, people smiled and waved – secretly jealous of our idea. Before, we arrived home exhausted and collapsed on the couch for the remaining hours of the night. This time, we returned to camp and rested for a few short minutes before making another exciting journey (this time to the grocery store, and this time in a car… a hot rod lincoln, if you must know)

Walking is invigorating. It clears the mind and energizes the soul. It allows me time to process my week, while getting me away from the buzz of activity at camp. It’s a refreshing way to end a week and prepare for a new one… and this coming week is going to be a d00zy.
